MSL update: a sizzler of news, ideas, important information (and a preview of our new branding)

December 2018 - We can't believe this is our final news round-up for 2018: we've welcomed new clients from the UK, Ireland and Australia; you have embraced our new developments and improvements to your MSL System; and your year-round endeavours in supporting members and engaging with the hardest to reach students are awe-inspiring. We are proud to play a part in what you have achieved this year.

December 2018 - We can't believe this is our final news round-up for 2018: we've welcomed new clients from the UK, Ireland and Australia; you have embraced our new developments and improvements to your MSL System; and your year-round endeavours in supporting members and engaging with the hardest to reach students are awe-inspiring. We are proud to play a part in what you have achieved this year. 

We have plans to meet even more of you at user groups in the year ahead and welcome your ideas for how that could work. But before that, we know that everyone will be looking forward to a well deserved break over Christmas and New Year. The MSL team will be hanging up their stockings at 3.00pm (GMT) on Friday 21st December and will return, slightly heavier and rosy-cheeked at 9.00am (GMT) on Wednesday 2nd January 2019. Between those times we will, of course, continue to monitor our systems for urgent issues.

We wish everyone a happy and peaceful break and look forward to an exciting 2019.

MSL is getting a face lift - we think you'll love our new look!  

We’ve been spending some time thinking about MSL's brand and identity: what does it mean to you, our MSL community; how do prospective users of the MSL System view the MSL 'brand'; and how do we demonstrate our commitment to providing easy-to-use products that support an inclusive, diverse, accessible and engaging member experience?

It's an evolving process - but we're making a start with a new logo, corporate style and, coming soon, a new website. Look out for changes happening over the next few weeks and read our branding story here - be one of the first to see MSL's new logo.

ECU Student Guild celebrates success of its first online election with MSL

Edith Cowan University Student Guild celebrated the results from their first fully online election following its decision to use MSL’s election system as part of their drive to promote the interests of their members. The Guild encourages as many students as possible to positively contribute to a vibrant, active and effective organisation, evidenced by the turnout of voters in this year’s October elections. Mary I Students' Union implements MSL System to boost student participation

StudentLink - create a buzz for your tickets and events 

Sheffield Students' Union has used StudentLink to great effect to drive ticket sales and downloads around their club nights:

"Our most popular Saturday club night is Pop Tarts. It sells out within hours or days each week, with 1800 capacity. We added 400 tickets exclusively to StudentLink with the tickets going on sale one hour earlier than any other outlet and this drove over 300 additional downloads across the two weeks we ran the promo." Our recent user groups at Comms by the Coast and NUS Trade Show have proven to be popular, with great ideas from the community, lively discussion around our development plans and well received presentations from attendees. We'd like to do more sessions like this and make it easier for more people to attend, so we're proposing a new regional series of user groups for next year. We're open to suggestions of location - if you'd like to host a session, please let us know. Similarly, if you have been working on a great project that your students love and want to showcase it to other unions, send us some details. Think this is a great idea or have a better one? With Refreshers likely to be the next big thing on your calendar, now is the time to set up your PayPal facility for all card payments not just PayPal accounts.  Contact us to find out more.

September 2021 - Arts Students’ Union is the focal point of support and activities for students at the six constituent colleges of University of the Arts London (UAL). The Union provides participation opportunities through sports clubs, societies, the Arts Programme and representation through the elected officers, council and course reps. So when the Union looked at ways to encourage greater participation in activities, elections was the first area reviewed - with the support of the team at MSL.
