30th May 2018 - Heriot-Watt University Student Union will implement MSL’s core membership management system, online elections and volunteering modules to support its strategic goal of building a strong global student community. The MSL System will also provide the Student Union with a new website, clubs and societies resources and student voice tools to engage with its members in Edinburgh, Galashiels and Orkney as well as Heriot-Watt students in Dubai and Malaysia.
The Union and its 10,000+ student members in Scotland will benefit from a range of engagement tools including clubs and societies resources, student voice facilities including online elections, idea lists, surveys and polls, events and ticketing, messaging and comprehensive reporting. In addition, its 8,000+ international members will be provided with a dedicated online elections system to improve participation and representation on the University’s two overseas campuses.
We’re very excited to move to a new website platform, after our existing website reached the end of its life. The MSL solution ticks so many boxes for us (and our members) and MSL’s years of experience of running SU web platforms has really shone through. We’re looking forward to being able to offer a greater online service to our societies and groups, and be able to support our international campuses in hosting their elections to help improve their democratic engagement.
Jamie Nutter, Deputy CEO of Heriot-Watt University Student Union
We extend a warm welcome to HWUnion and its international community of students. The MSL team very much looks forward to supporting Union staff and students at this pioneering institution as they work towards global participation and uptake of the Union’s services. The MSL System has been designed to promote diversity and inclusiveness and we are confident it will be a valuable asset.
