6th September 2019 - We’re sure you appreciate the role data plays within the MSL System; you work with data every day and it drives every decision made in your organisation. But just in case you were in any doubt, data also underpins everything that the MSL System does for you.

If you keep an eye on the Development* area of the MSL website then you’ll have seen updates and new features in every area of the system, all of which make the most of data to provide insight, simplify tasks and refine your users’ experience. From Preferred Name and Committee Dashboards to new Membership Reports and Voting Widgets, without data these things wouldn’t work.

We’re now undertaking one of the biggest – and arguably most important – projects in the MSL System’s history; we’ve called it Data Optimisation and we wanted to tell you about the benefits this work brings:

  1. Improving performance - Core areas of the MSL System will process data more quickly and efficiently by using optimised database queries re-engineered for speed.
  2. Increasing robustness – System updates will be more flexible and streamlined thanks to a new modular deployment process. Changes can be targeted to a particular area of the system, making it easier to release improvements to your MSL System.
  3. Ensuring reliability – Reports and applications will work more efficiently by accessing information in centralised, standardised ways.
