November 2018 - Freshers 2018 was the usual fun and occasionally frantic ride we have all come to expect but we know how important it is for you to show your new members a warm welcome and so we enjoyed supporting you during this time. Developments and updates were still going on in the background and we're pleased to announce that the newest version of StudentLink has been released to the stores. This version will offer users an even more streamlined mobile experience for buying tickets, placing votes and generally interacting with you. Finally, for all your new team members - or old hands that need a refresher - we're running a week long series of MSL Basics web briefings. It's the most exciting but gruelling time of year - it's Freshers...  

We all look forward to Freshers with a mix of excitement and trepidation and for good reason; it's probably the busiest time of year for everyone in the MSL community.  August and September saw the MSL team handling 1,950 helpdesk enquiries, 125 chat sessions and 200 calls. We also met more than 50 of you at two group training days as well as numerous client site training sessions - we love to put faces to names!  Can you share some of your interesting stats from Freshers weeks? Send us your highlights and we'll put together a pretty infographic to remind us just how how much fun we have at this time of the year.

Maynooth Students' Union selects MSL for student engagement platform

Maynooth Students’ Union has implemented the MSL System with dual language support, online elections and the StudentLink App to support their ethos of an inclusive student experience across campus. The solution also includes a new website, student voice resources, clubs and societies tools and ecommerce facilities. Maynooth SU joins four other Students’ Unions in the Irish Republic using the MSL System for their digital membership management. Read the news in full.

StudentLink adds new functionality for more engagement opportunities 

Not got the StudentLink app yet? Here are some of the latest features and improvements:

  • "My ID" view: including bar/QR code and optional photo for quick ID
  • Deep-linking: generate quick links directly to specific events, articles and elections
  • Organisation News and Events: club and society news and events now appear on the organisations' details pages with tabs for easy navigation
  • Support for news and events set with external URLs to be viewed in-app
  • Better analytics to monitor your downloads, registrations, sales and interactions

Leicester Students' Union chooses MSL to support its support and representation initiatives 

University of Leicester Students’ Union joined the MSL community during the summer, choosing to move all of its digital engagement requirements to the MSL System. The move has seen 250+ clubs and societies, student voice, events, ecommerce, messaging and reporting requirements managed within one system with the addition of elections, volunteering, student group finances and the MSL App to push forward the Union’s mission to support, enable and represent their students. December 2018 - We’ve been spending some time thinking about MSL's brand and identity: what does it mean to you, our MSL community; how do prospective users of the MSL System view the MSL 'brand'; and how do we demonstrate our commitment to providing easy-to-use products that support an inclusive, diverse, accessible and engaging member experience? It's an evolving process - but we've made a start with a new logo, corporate style and, coming soon, a new website.
